What is acceptable? Are we supposed to dress a specific way, listen to specific music, have specific values. Believe in certain religions, live certain lifestyles in order to fit the bill of what's acceptable? I would be lying if i said we gave a F** but sadly and unnoticely, we do. My cousin said to me apartheid is still alive. I asked him why he believes that. He told me black people are still poor. Then my response initialy was laughter but it got me thinking. How angry i get when i see how some people act like life was always like this is in South Aftica, that we lived so freely and we chose where we want to live, like people were never oppressed. I think of Police Brutality back in the 1970s, when people were still oppressed by the fvcked apartheid government. Comparing the police now and the police of the 70s, not much has changed besides that more blacks have joined the force than whites, but brutality still sticks. I never lived in the apartheid era, i am a born free so race seperation is not something I've been exposed to but i see it all the time. We live in a democratic state. By right we are allowed to choose our own leaders, a contrast to what was happening in past times. Its been 20 years of our democratic freedom. Rainbow Nation is the new drug. Technology has grown and shifted. From big boom box systems hanging over shoulders to walkmans to mp3 players to iPods... We cant disagree that we in a new age of technology. Imagine if an idea shot out a person's brain the same way technology shoots out the industry... Imagine if your ideas were the reason we didnt have to use remotes to control our appliances... Well they can. I believe every idea is good enough to be realised, but the problem lies with us not believing in our own ideas then when someone makes use of them we want to complain and shit.
